Our very first date was at Up Down arcade. We played retro video games then ate Latin food. Josh picked the restaurant for dinner afterwards. Sam hated it, but pretended like he liked it because Josh picked - what a sweet guy!

You know what they say: if you can travel together, you can make it through anything together. After only 9 months of dating, we embarked on our first international trip - and what a journey it was! A quick moment in New York for dinner and a Broadway revival of “Into the Woods”. After a layover at Charles de Gaulle, we landed in Malaga, Spain for Christmas Dinner 2022. Though we almost broke up over the inherent conflict caused by driving a stick shift in a foreign country, we managed to navigate to Gibraltar, a UK territory. From there we boarded a ship across the Strait of Gibraltar to Morocco, ringing in the 2023 New Year in the Sahara dunes. And the rest, as they say, is history!

Random Jam Sosh fact: we’re both super into pottery and glass blowing. There’s something about making usable art with your hands that amazes us both. So, for our first anniversary we took a pottery class! You’ll be able to see the vessels we made that day in the Jam Sosh museum.

After a long history of fickle digestion issues, Josh got sick one too many times. On the morning of December 15th, 2023, he tore an internal blood vessel near his stomach, releasing a pool of internal bleeding throughout his inner abdominal cavity. Lying on the bathroom floor in the worst pain he'd ever experience, Josh was (eventually) convinced by Sam to go to the hospital, despite having no health insurance.
This is when Sam, like the hero he is, picked Josh up and carried him to the backseat of their car. They sped off to the ER, which led to a five-day hospital stay filled with blood draws every four hours, a scheduled surgery and blood transfusion both averted in the 11th hour, a 30-pound weight loss, and all the ice chips and apple sauce you could imagine.Though all of it, Sam was by Josh's side for every needle poke and doctor consultant and decision to be made, while also continuing working full-time and taking care of the dogs and house.It was the worst medical emergency Josh has ever experienced.
